Event Overview

Description of 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Events:

The 6th and 7th grade events focus on everyday manners, traditional dances and some more popular non traditional dances.  The program teaches traditional dance steps that are the foundation of dancing.  Some of the dances are step touch, box step, the Waltz, swinging partner moves, and many other popular non traditional dances.  The events are held at Villa Duchesne the attire is dressy.  The events are led  by Melenie Broyles and Sarah Broyles of Etiquette Saint Louis.  The program also includes a brief etiquette lesson in the beginning of each dance.  There is also a review of various dances previously learned.  At break time midway during the dance, the participants enjoy socializing.

Having focused on the more traditional dances in the sixth and seventh grade years, the eighth grade program teaches students the popular current dances. Also held at Villa Duchesne, the attire for each dance is dressy . The program is fun and includes a special night that includes a formal dinner at the Missouri Athletic Club Downtown and final night of dancing. The participants have learned numerous dances including the Wobble, the YMCA, the Macarena, Ch Cha Slide and the Cupid Shuffle.   The program also includes a brief etiquette lesson. At break time midway during the dance, the participants enjoy socializing.
